Description
The South Carolina Teaching Standards (SCTS) 4.0 self-paced learning module is an e-learning experience that offers an in-depth look at indicators that create and promote an environment where teachers make the best use of instructional time, demand higher quality work from students, and teach more material. You will also explore how students can take more initiative and responsibility for their own work, thus resulting in better performance from every student. You will administer a student survey and complete a teacher survey that will indicate how well you optimize instructional time. The student survey will indicate the level of individual student responsibility for learning. Finally, you will use guiding questions to write a summary that details how you optimize your instructional time and provide opportunities for students to take initiative. This module is not designed to enhance or replicate evaluator training, but rather to refine and extend an educator’s growth and development.
*This learning module requires a major assessment submission that may make use of student data, collaboration/observations with other teachers, or work to be done with students in the classroom. When enrolling in this learning module, it is strongly recommended that you are actively teaching.
Major Assessment Artifact
For this Major Assessment Artifact in this learning module, you will administer a student survey that will indicate students’ feelings concerning how you, as a teacher, optimize instructional time and write a summary that details how you optimize your instructional time and provide opportunities for students to take initiative.
