The 21st Century Teacher: Authentic Assessment is an interactive e-learning experience that offers an in-depth look at assessment that meets the needs of 21st century teaching and learning. In this course, teachers see how assessment strategies can benefit their teaching practices and their students’ learning. They learn how to plan, develop, and manage student-centered assessment. They follow three teachers and see how the three teachers are implementing embedded and ongoing assessment methods in their classrooms. The course offers opportunities to apply the assessment concepts with action planning exercises.
This course is for professional development credit only. VirtualSC PD courses do not count towards any type of degree.

This is an intermediate to advanced level course for teachers, literacy coaches, curriculum specialists, professional development specialists, or other school personnel. Participants are expected to have regular access to computers with Internet access. They will also need speakers and a microphone (or a headset or telephone) to participate in the Blackboard Collaborate Ultra Virtual Meeting sessions. In addition, participants should be proficient with browsing the Internet, uploading and downloading content, navigating to computer files, and with using word processing software, email, and attachments.
