Strategies for Enhancing Student Engagement and Self Direction covers the topics of student engagement and self-regulation in the classroom. It provides a framework of ideas relative to creating experiences that afford students the opportunity to learn more and to learn better. It describes characteristics that allow students to be leaders of their learning, take responsibility for it, and be engaged in learning tasks. Teachers play a crucial role in creating the conditions that allow students to accomplish this task. This course is designed for K-12 educators who want to hone their knowledge and add to their best practices toolkit in such a way that they can be the “guide on the side” for the students in their classrooms.

This course is for professional development credit only. VirtualSC PD courses do not count towards any type of degree.
